Dear Family Members:
Thanks so much to all the family and friends who contributed to the Guy-Burgess Scholarship Fund last year. We were successful in reaching our goal. We presented six high school graduates from 2009 and 2010 with stipends of $250 each. A list of the recipients is enclosed.
Yes, our Guy family needs to stand united in support of our youth. How proud we are of them. So we look forward to expanding our patron project this year as our list of graduates seems to be growing. We are asking each family and family friends to be patrons of support this year. Please help by starting now to make a contribution. GBSF contributions will be accepted thru June 26, 2011.
Last year we received several contributions from close family friends and in-laws. They have a sincere interest in Guy-Burgess graduates and recognize the need to encourage and support them. Be sure to tell them about our scholarship fund. If they make a contribution, you can send it with their name and address, so that they may receive the GBSF annual report.
You do not have to wait until the last minute. Send your contribution now or anytime before the reunion. Of course we will gladly accept contributions at the reunion. If for some reason, you will not make this year’s reunion, please send a contribution to the GBSF anyway. Send your contribution to Sylvia P. Thomas, 17558 Westmill Lane, Charlotte, NC 28277.
At the reunion we want to recognize all achievements of family members such as college graduation, graduation from other institutions or programs, job promotions, special recognitions or awards, especially children’s accomplishments and awards. If you have not submitted them on the family website, send me a note. Include the person’s name, school or college, grade or degree, special recognition or award, and their family relationship.
Thank you for continuing to support our youth.
Sincerely,
Sylvia P. Thomas, Director
